About Our Village

Started by Older Adults for Older Adults, in Benicia and Vallejo

Just as it takes a village to raise a child, it takes a village to

enrich, engage, and support its older citizens.

The mission of the Carquinez Village is to build a community of neighbors helping neighbors that provides social support, practical help, and referral assistance to older adults who want to remain in their homes and live full and independent lives as they age.

Carquinez Village is a mutual support network of members and volunteers — neighbors helping neighbors. We are not a place, a building, a health care organization, or a social service agency. We are a community within the larger community that provides support services, a wide array of social activities, referrals and, resources; thus enabling members to remain in their own homes while leading active and connected lives.

We are a non-profit, fee-based membership organization. We work in association with Faith in Action, a nondenominational nonprofit organization located in Fairfield, which serves as our fiscal agent and assists in the delivery of support services.

Membership in Carquinez Village is open to individuals who live in the Benicia/Vallejo area and are 60 years of age or older.  For more information, click here to be directed to the Membership page.

Volunteerism makes Carquinez Village go with a group of caring and committed volunteers and member-volunteers who administer the organization, plan programs and activities and see to the delivery of all services which are executed by people of all ages, making the Village a vibrant reality and helping members in a direct way.
