September is National Preparedness Month, and Carquinez Village is working to ensure that local seniors are ready when disaster strikes.
As fire season approaches, we are taking action. Our members have received wildfire safety training from Fire Safe Benicia and the Fire Department, and we will offer Red Cross disaster preparedness training to the community this September.
Emergency officials recommend that everyone have a GO BAG with essential supplies for evacuation and emergencies. For many older adults, especially those who are most vulnerable, a GO BAG can provide critical support and peace of mind.
Our goal is to provide 100 GO BAGS to seniors in the Benicia and Vallejo communities. To keep costs low, volunteers will assemble the bags themselves. Each GO BAG costs just $25 and contains emergency supplies recommended by FEMA, the Red Cross, and local fire officials.
Five years ago, generous donors helped us provide GO BAGS to our members and the community. Since then, our Village has grown significantly, and many newer members still need this important emergency resource.
A gift of $25 sponsors one GO BAG. A gift of $100 provides preparedness kits for four seniors.
Please consider supporting our GO BAG Fund and helping ensure that every senior in our community is prepared for an emergency.
Thank you for your generosity and commitment to our community.
