I have made and used this concoction for about 30 years.  I offer it to you as a DIY that is plastic-and-preservative free.  A jar lasts a very long time.  Let me show you how.

You'll need:
- french clay (used in making pottery).  It comes in large quantities, so let me give you some.
- alum (commonly used in pickling.  you can find it in drug stores and in grocery stores . If you     don't have it on hand and want to try this, I'll give you some.
- dried herbs like sage, lavender, etc.  Whatever you like.
- a fine sieve
- a jar to store your creation
- a small container with a small opening so you can shake out a small amount for use
- something to use to get the product from the jar to the smaller container (a funnel, or make one from paper).

Just a note:  alum comes from the iris plant- so it's natural.  And of course, clay is from the earth.
