Ashby Village will be hosting Professor Troy Duster on August 16 to present a reflection on race in America.  He will be looking into the forces that are now in the process of reshaping the nations understanding of race.  Troy Duster is a Professor Emeritus of Sociology at the University of California, Berkeley and a member of Ashby Village.  He is a past president of the American Sociological Association and has served as chair of the Board of Directors of the Association of American Colleges and Universities.

 Professor Duster’s presentation is part of Ashby Village’s ongoing presentations by it’s Arts and Cultures Team which has offering interesting and stimulating programs to it’s membership and to the Community about four times each year for three years.  Now that we are attending these presentations through Zoom we are able to invite BRAVO members to attend with little effort on their part.  This year we have had more than our usual four opportunities to present interesting speakers.  Closely following Troy Duster’s presentation will be Fiona Ma, Treasurer of the State of California on September 13, and Robert Reich, famed political commentator and economist, on September 22.  We will be happy to send information on these two programs to you along with Zoom information a little closer to the dates.

 We won’t be able to see each other at these events.  Only the speaker and others participating in the programs will be heard.  However, you will have a chance to ask questions during the Question and Answer portion of the program by using “Chat” on your Zoom screen.  Then the question will be read to our speaker.
